What to do during your stay
You are perfectly placed at the cottage to visit both the North East coast with towns such as Scarborough, Filey, Whitby, Robin hoods Bay and the north Yorkshire moors towns of Pickering with its railway, Thornton Dale, Goathland, York, Malton and too many to mention really.
Scarborough
Approximately 8 miles from the cottage, 15 minutes in the car. The 128 bus leaves 50 yards from the cottage into town (nb, check timetables). Scarborough Castle, north and south bay,The Spa.
Whitby
Famous for fishing, Bramstoker's reference to Whitby Abbey, Captain Cook museum and jet. 27 miles, 40 minutes.
Thornton Le Dale
Along the A170, 6 miles and on 128 bus route to Helmsley, Bangers & Cash and must have the ice cream. On route to Pickering, Pickering castle, NYM steam railway and some great restaurants.
Malton
On the A64 before you turn off onto A170. Famous for food festivals, Eden Camp, Flamingoland and Castle Howard.
